Caramel Chocolate Cookie Bars (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 2 1/4 cups regular flour.
02 - 1 teaspoon baking soda.
03 - 1 teaspoon salt.
04 - 1 cup softened butter.
05 - 3/4 cup white sugar.
06 - 3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed.
07 - 1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring.
08 - 2 eggs.
09 - 2 cups chocolate chips, semi-sweet.
10 - 5 ounces milk, evaporated.
11 - 14 ounces soft caramels.
12 - 1/2 cup smooth peanut butter.

# Instructions:

01 - Heat your oven to 375°F. Coat a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
02 - Combine dry stuff first. Whip butter with both sugars and vanilla till fluffy. Throw in eggs, then slowly add flour mix and fold in chocolate chips.
03 - Put half your cookie dough in the greased pan and bake for 8-10 minutes.
04 - Slowly melt the caramels with evaporated milk using a double boiler, then stir in peanut butter. Pour this over the baked bottom layer.
05 - Plop spoonfuls of leftover dough on top of the caramel mixture. Bake another 15-20 minutes until it looks golden brown.

# Notes:

01 - Always melt caramel using a double boiler.
02 - You can make these a day before serving.
03 - Let them cool totally before you slice them up.
