# Ingredients:

01 - Softened unsalted butter (1/2 cup).
02 - Room temperature butter-flavored shortening (1/2 cup).
03 - One egg at room temperature.
04 - Three tablespoons of buttermilk.
05 - Half a teaspoon of white vinegar.
06 - Two teaspoons of red food dye.
07 - All-purpose flour (2 1/4 cups).
08 - Quarter cup of unsweetened cocoa powder.
09 - Quarter teaspoon of salt.
10 - One cup of confectioners' sugar.
11 - Melted unsalted butter for dipping (1/4 cup).
12 - Extra sifted confectioners' sugar for coating (1 1/2 cups).

# Instructions:

01 - Whip the butter with shortening until they're smooth and fluffy.
02 - Slowly add egg, buttermilk, vinegar, vanilla, and red coloring while mixing on low until everything's blended.
03 - In another bowl, stir together flour, cocoa, salt, and confectioners' sugar.
04 - Slowly add dry mix to wet stuff, stirring until just combined. Let the dough chill in fridge for an hour.
05 - Drop tablespoon-sized balls on tray with 2-inch gaps. Cook at 350°F until done, about 12-14 minutes.
06 - Dunk hot cookies first in melted butter, then roll in sugar. After they cool, give them another sugar roll.

# Notes:

01 - Don't let the dough warm up or cookies will flatten too much.
02 - Keep them fresh in sealed containers with parchment between layers.
