Soft Sugar Cookie Cutouts (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - Sifted all-purpose flour (2 1/4 cups/281g).
02 - Baking powder (1/2 teaspoon).
03 - Table salt (1/4 teaspoon).
04 - Softened unsalted butter (3/4 cup/170g).
05 - White sugar (3/4 cup/150g).
06 - One large egg at room temp.
07 - Regular vanilla extract (2 teaspoons).
08 - Optional almond extract (1/4 or 1/2 teaspoon).
09 - Decorating options: Royal Icing, Simple Glaze, or Cookie Frosting.
10 - Various sprinkles for topping.

# Instructions:

01 - In a medium bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt together until well combined.
02 - Mix butter and sugar with mixer on high for about 3 minutes till fluffy. Then add egg, vanilla, and almond extract if using, and beat another minute.
03 - Slowly blend dry mix into wet ingredients on low. If dough feels sticky, add another tablespoon of flour.
04 - Split dough into two parts, roll each between parchment to 1/4-inch thick. Put both in fridge for 1-2 hours.
05 - Use cutters on the cold dough. Cook at 350°F about 11-12 minutes until edges turn slightly brown.
06 - Let cookies sit on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then move to cooling rack until completely cool before adding your chosen topping.

# Notes:

01 - You can freeze them plain or with icing up to 3 months.
02 - The dough keeps in the fridge for up to 2 days.
03 - You can make twice as much by doubling everything.
