Classic Toast Bake (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 4 tablespoons of plain butter
02 - 1 pound of crusty Italian or sourdough loaf
03 - 8 large eggs from the fridge
04 - 3 cups of half-and-half cream
05 - 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
06 - 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
07 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon powder
08 - 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt flakes
09 - 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
10 - 2 ounces of roughly chopped nuts
11 - 1/4 cup regular flour
12 - Maple syrup to drizzle on top
13 - Seasonal fresh berries for garnish

# Instructions:

01 - Spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with non-stick spray
02 - Break the bread into small, mouth-sized chunks and arrange in dish
03 - Combine eggs, half-and-half, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg, beating till blended
04 - Dump mixture over bread, push bread down gently, wrap and chill in fridge all night
05 - Stir together nuts, flour, brown sugar, spices and butter until it forms small clumps
06 - Sprinkle crumble over top and cook at 350°F for 45-50 mins until puffy and golden

01 - You can make this a day before you need it
02 - It needs to soak for at least an hour
