Get your grill or stovetop pan going on medium heat. You’ll want a hot surface to get those satisfying grill marks!

Combine the ground beef with red pepper flakes, onion powder, garlic powder, and oregano in a bowl. Form into four patties and gently press a small well into the middle of each, so they don’t puff up while cooking.

Throw the patties onto the grill for about 5-7 minutes per side, depending on how you like them cooked (160°F means medium). Just before they’re done, pop a slice of mozzarella over each one and close the lid so the cheese turns irresistibly gooey.

Once the cheese is melted, pull the patties off the grill and stack them with pepperoni slices and a hearty spoon of pizza sauce. Toast your buns until they’ve got a light crunch while working on the patties.

Place each cheesy, saucy patty on a bun bottom, and top with fresh basil and whatever optional extras you dig. Pop the top bun on and devour while it’s still warm!
