Pecan Chocolate Bourbon (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1/2 of a 14.1-oz package of store-bought pie crust.
02 - 1 1/2 cups of pecans, toasted and chopped.
03 - 1 cup of dark chocolate chips.
04 - 1 cup of corn syrup (dark variety).
05 - 1/2 cup of white sugar.
06 - 1/2 cup of brown sugar (light).
07 - 1/4 cup of bourbon or plain water, your choice.
08 - 4 large eggs.
09 - 1/4 cup of melted butter.
10 - 2 teaspoons of white cornmeal.
11 - 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.
12 - Half a teaspoon of salt.

# Instructions:

01 - Press the pie crust into a 9-inch pan and shape the edges as desired.
02 - Spread the pecans over the crust, then evenly sprinkle the chocolate chips on top.
03 - Heat the sugars and syrup until bubbling. Let it cook for three minutes with bourbon or water. Beat the eggs along with the rest of the ingredients. Slowly mix some of the hot syrup into the eggs before combining everything fully.
04 - Pour the filling into the crust, bake for 55 minutes, and then cool it for an hour on a rack.

# Notes:

01 - Great for family gatherings or special occasions.
02 - Swap the bourbon for water if you'd prefer.
03 - Stir hot syrup into the eggs slowly to avoid scrambling them.
04 - Don't skip letting the pie cool entirely before serving.
05 - Toasted pecans bring out extra flavor.
06 - The chocolate adds a rich, sweet touch.
