On medium heat, melt butter in a large pot. Stir in onions and soften them for about 3-4 minutes.

Drop in the chunks of sweet potatoes and apples. Stir now and then, cooking for 3 minutes.

Pour 2 cups of broth to scrape off bits from the bottom. Add the rest of the broth, spices, and salt. Let it simmer for about 7-10 minutes till potatoes are soft.

Turn off the heat and carefully blend everything smooth using an immersion blender.

Adjust taste with more lemon juice, syrup, or salt. Serve hot and drizzle with more syrup if you'd like.
