Effortless Smothered Chicken (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - Two big chicken breasts, sliced in half lengthwise.
02 - Pepper and salt, as much as you need.
03 - Half a cup of all-purpose flour.
04 - A tablespoon of powdered garlic.
05 - A tablespoon of powdered onion.
06 - Half a tablespoon of paprika.
07 - A pinch (or half a teaspoon) of cayenne.
08 - Two tablespoons of olive oil.
09 - Two tablespoons of butter, unsalted or salted.
10 - One onion, medium to large, sliced.
11 - One cup of chicken stock.
12 - A teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce.
13 - A quarter cup of heavy cream.

# Instructions:

01 - Halve each chicken breast down the middle.
02 - Sprinkle with salt and pepper evenly.
03 - Combine the flour with cayenne, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Hold back 2 tbsp of this flour blend for later.
04 - Warm up your oil on medium-high heat.
05 - Cover the chicken pieces fully with the leftover flour mix.
06 - Cook each side of the chicken for five minutes.
07 - Set the cooked chicken aside on a plate.
08 - Lower the heat to medium-low.
09 - Melt your butter and toss in the onions. Let them cook 15-20 mins, stirring, until golden-brown.
10 - Sprinkle in the saved flour mix and stir for about a minute.
11 - Pour in the chicken stock along with Worcestershire sauce.
12 - Mix in the cream and let it all come together.
13 - Put the chicken back in the pan and simmer for 5-7 mins. Adjust seasoning as needed.

# Notes:

01 - Chicken thighs add extra flavor if swapped.
02 - Dial back the cayenne if you don't want it spicy.
03 - Keep onions on low heat so they don't char.
04 - Make sure chicken hits 165°F before serving.
