Cut the yams into thick 1-inch slices after peeling. Drop them into the slow cooker.

Stir the water with cornstarch until fully combined. Add this, along with the butter, vanilla, molasses, salt, and seasonings, into the slow cooker.

Set the lid on and don’t disturb for 4 hours while it cooks on HIGH heat.

Once cooked, sprinkle in the brown sugar and stir gently to combine.
